Modern Coastal Classic

Our client’s home is in the perfect location to raise their young girls however their early 1980s home required an extension and complete interior renovation to accommodate the family. The home consisted of small bedrooms, wrapped by an under-utilised verandah. The verandah greatly reduced the amount of natural light entering the home and obstructed the family’s views of their canal front property.

The priority for this project was to increase the foot print of all the bedrooms by capitalising on the verandah space, increasing natural light within the home, incorporating functional storage solutions and re-imagining the interior to the modern classic feel our clients love so much.

A fresh paint colour was used to lift the entire interior which plays beautifully along side the classic dark timber floors. Functional storage zones in the entrance of the home, children’s play area and in the kitchen were essential for our busy clients.

The kitchen layout remained the same but the space was re-imagined with fresh paint, custom coloured shaker profile cabinetry layered with oil-rubbed bronze hardware, classic white hand-made subway tiles, statuario nuvo stone bench tops and an accent light fixture creating a very classic feel.

Custom black framed windows now flood the bedrooms with natural light upstairs. Our interior designer chose luxurious wool carpet for the upstairs bedroom, completing the look with fresh paint and custom made window dressings to bring softness to the space.
The use of an aged, warm mid gray oak timber in the storage zone and the bathrooms adds an extra layer of warmth to the home.
