This sustainable beauty was a creation born out of pure passion, surpassing the conventional ‘sustainable dwelling’ concept and confidently pushing the boundaries of design.

The owners of Kingfisher, Sean and Christiana, enlisted Kai Konstruct to evaluate the property during a pre-purchase meeting to explore the home’s potential. The main objective was to construct an eco-friendly residence with minimal impact through thoughtful design, construction methods, and utilizing nature’s resources – sunlight and water – for self-sufficiency.

After acquiring the property, the owners collaborated with PTMA Architects and Hannah and Co Interiors to bring the envisioned Kingfisher House to life. The finalized plans integrated the external surroundings and incorporated a variety of natural materials indoors, complemented by carefully selected hardscaping features.

To achieve its unique design, Kingfisher House required intricate carpentry work and the installation of custom-designed and engineered pivot doors to the indoor outdoor courtyard, which is the key element of the home’s design.

The construction of Kingfisher House spanned over two years, resulting in the Gold Coast’s top-rated sustainable home. This was accomplished by using sustainable materials, achieving a 9.1-star rating, and ensuring carbon neutrality throughout the building’s lifespan.
