Currumbin Valley

Mountain Home

Hinterland

A hidden sanctuary nestled on the mountain, enveloped by nature.

This extensive renovation project situated atop Tomewin Mountain in the stunning Currumbin Valley.

From the initial meeting with property owners Andrew and Julie, Tim and Lauren sensed the deep connection and vision the owners had for their family. They dreamed of creating spaces that would bring joy to their children and grandchildren, focusing on family and food.

The warm color palette was carefully chosen to reflect the owners’ warmth, combining soft creamy tones with dark cabinetry. Weathered bronze tapware and sandstone flooring were included to age naturally and develop a unique patina over time. The stone wrapped lower level harmonizes with the surrounding environment.

A key goal was to establish a seamless connection between the home and its natural surroundings, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. This was achieved by extending the sandstone flooring from the lower level out into the landscape, creating a visual and textural flow to the kitchen garden and chicken coop beyond.
