Our clients approached the team at Kai Konstruct during the contract stage of purchasing their new home in a dream location on the Gold Coast. This perfect location came with a solid but outdated home that our clients needed updating prior to moving in.
The key requirements for this project were to stream line the internal layout, re-work old spaces to become functional, add an office space and incorporate functional storage solutions to accommodate their busy careers with two young children.
Our clients 1970’s waterfront home featured many half walls which inhibited the flow of the home. The first design decision was to strip the inside and create open spaces. Secondly, the home had no storage, so our designer incorporated stream line banks of storage to the kids zone and the dining area, built in feature cabinetry to the lounge and custom wardrobe cabinetry to the master bedroom.
Our clients love white spaces, so to bring warmth to the home we used oak timber flooring, VJ feature panels and built in shaker profile cabinetry for the lounge area. The two existing bathrooms in the home were completely remodeled with functional, family-friendly layouts. The warmth of the oak was carried into the wet areas by way of the cabinetry. The oak coupled with the use of handmade white subway tiles laid in a herringbone pattern create subtle texture and depth in the space.
